5/2/03: Valdez Daze
So I've been in Valdez for over a month and am really enjoying it. The Conference has been a huge part of my life for eight years now, and to be getting to work on it's structure and contribute to its success... it's fairly wonderful fun. I work every day, not because I'm asked to or have to, but because I want to. Find a job you love, you'll never work another day in your life, that's what I hear.
I did take a trip down to San Francisco last weekend to see the opening weekend for LIBIDOFF. My director, Christopher Jenkins, has done a wonderful job of weaving together a super ensemble. And the reviews we've been getting are fabulous, non-stop quotable reviews... stuff like "From the depths of male depravity comes LibidOff" and "Pero el genio creativo de Dawson Moore no queda allm..." I mean, I have no idea what that really means, but it sounds good.
But overall I'm enjoying life in this small town... I like that I can walk everywhere, and see no one. I like that I go home at the end of the day. And I like the new stuff I've been writing. Life is good.
Best wishes,
~dawson~
4/24/03: In The News...
Howdy everybody! I've been so busy getting ready for this year's Last Frontier Theatre Conference that I haven't really had time to post anything.
As I'm packing for a quick trip down to the bay-area to see the West Coast Premier of Libidoff, though, I thought I'd throw a couple of things up here... I was mentioned in an article on the Albee Festival in Alaska Magazine. There's a link in the Press Room section of the site. There's also a funky spanish language review of Libidoff that I posted in there. Also, in the Gallery section, you can see me slapping award-winning playwright John Guare in the face (not metaphorically... I'm actually beating on this world-class playwright! Hee hee hee!).
Oh yeah... there's apparently going to be an Italian production of Bile In The Afterlife, and another production of it in the Bay-Area this spring... more on that later. I gotta catch a plane!
Enjoy!
3/21/03: A Week Off In Anchorage
Hey, everyone. Having a fabulous time in Anchorage taking a week off. I could be doing more work, but NO, actually, NO, I think this break is more important! =~)
Saw a strong production of "True West" last night, and tonight I'll be checking out James McLure's classic chestnuts "Laundry & Bourbon" and "Lone Star." Nothing like new work. Nothing like it at all, actually.
The job in Valdez starts on Monday. Have my ticket to ride... time to get started.
3/18/03: "Living With The Savage" Sample posted
Hey guys! I literally just touched down here in Alaska, so I don't have time to report much. I did take a moment, though, to post a sample of my latest play "Living With The Savage" in the Complete Works section. It just had a production the Bay Area One Acts Festival.
I'll post more soon, once I get settled in.

3/12/03: Heading North
Hey everyone! Oh my god but I'm tired. BOA closed last weekend and now I'm off to Valdez to begin coordinating this year's Last Frontier Theatre Conference.
I don't have time to write too much, but I wanted to let you know that Three Wise Monkeys and the Unidentified Theatre Company are producing the West Coast premier of Libidoff right here in San Francisco... right after I leave for the Great White North. Timing's everything, huh?
Also, I've posted some new play samples on the Complete Works page... The Tie, Secret Stuffing, Happy Loving Couples Are A Thing of the Past, and even an old Ren Faire piece, In Jeopardy.
Oh, one more thing... you'll notice that there's a new "page monitor" at the top of this page. I used to use one called "Netmind," but that company went out of business. So, if you were using Netmind, start using this one. If you weren't, try this one out; it'll send you an email when the Updates page changes.
And if you haven't purchased your BOA Book, last year's AND this year's are still on sale through the Three Wise Monkeys web site... Click here for more on that.
That's it for now... I'll write more when I get settle in Valdez.

2/17/03: Super Mondo Update
Oh my dear god it's been a long time since I updated the site!!! Sorry it's taken so long, everyone... hope it was worth the wait.
If you can in from the home page, you've already seen some changes. I've added a box on the home page which will give you the "breaking news" in my life. You probably also saw that I added a Photo Gallery with some graphics and photos from productions I've been involved with.
There are some new articles, including one on play formatting which I'd love for every playwright submitting scripts to read. More scene samples (and the complete text of some of my shorter plays) have been added to the Complete Works section. And, in the Press section, I've posted an article the Anchorage Daily News wrote about me last year.
One more thing: for those who are interested, I've posted a chronological Production History of all my plays. You can find links to it on the Bio and Complete Works pages.
That's it for now... more soon!

3/8/2002: New Play Excerpts Posted
I've just posted three new play excerpts on the Complete Works Page. You can get a taste of my new plays Oh Nancy, Laundry Day, and In a Red Sea. As always, full scripts can be ordered by contacting me Directly.
3/4/2002: Random Updates
Secret Stuffing just finished casting. Aoise's directing it for the Unidentified Theatre Company's One-Act Marathon. I'll be directing a full- length romantic comedy, Cockroach Infestation, at a sixty seat theatre, New Langton Arts. Three Wise Monkeys has a couple of other productions lined up, I'm directing a hour-long show for the SF Fringe if it gets in, and I'm playing Otto in Nicky Silver's The Food Chain in October/November... so, you know, keeping busy.
I'm planning on heading to New York in May to check out the next incarnation of LibidOff in May... this time it's actually in a theatre (78th Street Studios), albeit a little one. Excited to see it done again, regardless.
11/28/2001: Article Published in "Callboard" Magazine
What do you know! My article dealing with the September 11th terrorist attacks, On the Day, has been selected for publication in the December edition of Theatre Bay Area's Callboard Magazine. Subscribers should be receiving their issues the first week in December!
10/15/2001: Memories of September 11th
September 11th, 2001 will haunt the American mind for years to come. It sure affected me. I've written a new article on the effects this horrible day had, and on the power of the artist to heal its victims. No matter what you were doing, you'll always remember what happened On The Day.
10/15/2001: I'm back with a new address!
I Know it's been a while since the site's been updated... due to events in my webmaster and my lives, getting more material on the site has been pushed to the back-burner.
Those days, however, have come to an end. Today marks a new era in my online life. You can now find me at my new address: www.dawsonmoore.com. I'll be adding new play samples and articles in the next few weeks. I also have a lot to tell you about... keep an eye on this news page!
Thanks for sticking with me!
4/27/2001: Dawson's Full Monty?
It's been a number of years since I appeared on stage. When I "returned to the boards", though, it seems I made quite an impression! For those of you who missed it, I've written a new Article about the experience called Naked Daytripping.
Check it out!
4/25/20001: New Article Posted
I've started posting some of my articles online. A new Articles section has been added to the site for that purpose. First up is my article Why New Plays? Take a look!
4/6/20001: I'm back... on stage and in New York!
Hi Everyone!
I'm using the Eureka Theatre for my writing group. We've been bringing in actors and working on a script a day... read it, discuss it, improv it. Somewhere in the middle we eat. Very very very keen work... makes one feel like an artist, and it has been incredibly useful for the writers.
And I'm going to be acting WITHOUT A SCRIPT IN MY HAND for the first time in four years! This will be happening as a part of the three weekend Daytrippers project, produced by the Rough Theatre Company. For those who I haven't ranted at about this in the past, it's one-day theatre: writers get a topic at 10:30 PM and bring in a twenty minute play the next morning at 7:30. Then a director & actors fully stage it, off book and with full tech, at 10:30 that night.
Last time out I wrote, this time I'm directing once and acting twice. April 14, 21, and 28th at Fort Mason.
Also looks like LibidOff is going to be staged again in New York. My fabulous director friend, Don Williams, has a connection with the 78th St. Theatre. Great location, 100 seat proscenium box with full lighting and sound. Last time a short run and inappropriate space stood in our way... not this time! Nothing better for a playwright than finding fellow artists who are moved by your work.
My new one-act, Living with the Savage, was rejected from the Valdez Play Lab. Sigh, can't win everything I suppose. So I'll be participating in their ten-minute play lab instead, presenting my sick little play, Happy Loving Couples are a Thing of the Past. Should still be a wonderful conference, and my dear friend Aoise Stratford-Lloyd got in, so at least someone from my San Francisco crew will be there.
10/24/2000: New York New York!
News on my end. LibidOff is going to have its world premiere in NYC at the Expanded Arts Theatre Company. The guy who directed my reading here in town just moved there, and shopped the script around for me. Pretty keen. I'm going to fly out in late November to check it out.
I also got some great reviews for the Alaska production of Bile in the Afterlife that I should forward along to you... God I Am So *$#@ Busy!
PS Oh yeah, my six minute play, "The Tie," just went up as part of a New York festival that included Lansford Wilson & Murray Schisgal.
10/17/2000: Sand And Granite on Liberty to open New Rave Festival
Apparently, my play Sand and Granite on Liberty is decent enough that the producers of Stark Raving Theatre's New Rave new play festival have chosen it to open their 2000 festival. The play, which is directed by Harold Phillips and features local actors Rafael Untalan, Keith Cable and Nicole Turley kicks off the festival on Thursday October 26 at 7pm. If you're in Portland come by the Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center and check it out!
8/10/2000: Sand And Granite on Liberty chosen for New Rave Festival
Every year Stark Raving Theatre in Portland, Oregon hosts its New Rave festival, allowing playwrights to present new work in a staged reading form. Sand and Granite on Liberty was recently chosen for inclusion in this festival from a number of entries. If you're in Portland on October 26-29, 2000 stop by and check it out!
10/14/1999: LibidOff in Hollywood
Yes, that's right, finally a place where a play as vile as "LibidOff" fits right in... Hollywood.
Just got the flier today, and despite some problems with the possessive apostrophe, and the fact that there's a cast of eight (when I only wrote four), it makes me look forward to seeing it.
It runs from Novemeber 11th to 28th, Thursday through Saturday at 8:00, Sundays at 7:00. The theatre is at 1108 Seward Street (on the corner of Santa Monica). Tickets are $15, and there are only 28 seats. To RSVP tickets, the number is 323-957-9556.
I'm going to be down for the opening night (a Thursday) and would love to have a few friends going with me. You guys down there, lemme know. Those of you elsewhere, send me good wishes... I've had nothing to do with this production, so it's gonna be exciting... I may need help gathering driftwood to burn the director, that kinda thing!
=~) just kidding =~)
